As with any other popular game, poker has many offshoots. Texas Holdem is still the prime, king style of poker that the majority of people worldwide play. But there are also other types that are fighting for their spot under the Sun.
Seven Card stud was in the last 50 years what Texas is today, the most popular type. The players are dealt three cards. Two of them are face down, like in Texas Holdem, but one is face up. The player with the face-up card that has the lowest value gets to bet first. The game is far slower than Texas and is more rewarding for slow, patient, methodical players. Rounds of dealt cards and betting continue until everyone but one has folded or until everyone has seven cards. Much like the Texas style, the player with the best five-card combination wins.
Razz is what you get when you turn the traditional poker rules upside down. The goal of razz is to get the lowest hand possible according to the poker rules. Aces are the worst and not the best card in this case. The strongest card one can have is the low five, the ace combined with the two, three, four and five. Card dealing is the same as with The Seven Card Stud. In the end, the player who has the 5 weakest card combination out of the seven cards he was dealt wins the hand. There aren't any straights of flushes in this poker game.
The five card draw is one of the more simple kinds of poker. There isn't a traditional dealer of the cards like in Holdem poker. Every player receives five cards. After the bets have been placed, every player can remove as many hands from his deck as he wants. After receiving the new cards, players can bet or flop. The winner, as with any their type of poker game is the player with the best five-card combination.
